And the Winner is – Part 2

13 Apr

So, a little while ago, at the Little Monsters Baby and Toddler Show, I ran a competition for mums and dads to win the chance to commission a babygro keepsake monster. The winner was the lovely Marcia who sent me a teeny tiny little babygro which both her beautiful babies wore as newborns. She wanted a mummy monster with two baby monsters, a boy and a girl, to reflect this…and so I got to work.

I chose to use towelling for the mummy monster to stick with the newborn theme, but it turns out that it is just the WORST material to work with! It pulls really easily and little bits come off it like crazy. I spent the time I was working on the project looking like a big hairy monster myself!

Anyway, it was all worth it in the end and I really hope Marcia and her bambino’s like it and will be able to cherish it forever, as is the intention with my keepsake monsters.

If you would like one of your own, why not drop me a line through my contact page.

And the Winner is!

So, yesterday the wonderful Amy of Purple Thread Designs and I, spent the day at the Little Monsters Baby and Toddler show in Bristol and what a day it was. Lovely to see the monsters being cuddled by passing little-ones, and great to get such amazing feedback on the babygro keepsake idea.

It was interesting to see that the smallest of the monsters seemed to be the most popular with the kiddies, although to be fair, even my attempts at working small tend to come out pretty huge!

Anyhoo…I was running a give-away yesterday to give one lucky family the chance to have a babygro keepsake monster made entirely free of charge. Each entrant was given a number and with the aid of the random number generator at, a winner was chosen.

Without further ado I am thrilled to announce that the lucky winner is …

Congratulations Marcia, I will email you to sort out the details and design of your monster and then get to work!

Sorry to all those who didn’t win but it was lovely to chat with you yesterday, and remember to check out the babygro keepsake page. Don’t hesitate to contact me if you would like your cherished babygros transformed into a keepsake creature.

Right…I have a commission to get working on for a Lady Gaga fan so I’d best be off to come up with some sketches. Farewell fabric fans!

Arrrrrthur Riggington

“Ahoy There” to the newest member of the monster clan. Constructed using an old stripey babygro, Arrrrrthur is getting himself all packed up and ready to come with me to the Little Monster Baby and Toddler show tomorrow.

Arrrrrthur is an experienced pirate, held back only by his frequent bouts of scurvy bought about by his limited diet of dry porridge oats and beef flavoured crisps. He likes to sing the hits of Neil Sedaka on the ship’s karaoke, and can’t help but snigger whenever anyone mentions the poop deck.

Babygros, Ready to Go.

I’ve been a little quiet on the blogging front lately. I’ve been squirreled away in my craft room getting myself prepared for exhibiting at the Little Monsters Baby and Toddler Show in Bristol tomorrow. It will be the first time I’ve shown the babygro monsters in public as in the past they have been done purely as individual commissions for happy customers. I’ve been busy making up a few samples for the show and I’m really pleased with how they’ve turned out. I love seeing people interact with my creations, picking them up, smiling as they find the little details, It makes me feel all warm and gooey inside. I can’t wait to see what the response will be like tomorrow.

Stay tuned later for a new monster which I finished yesterday, He’s just powdering his nose, preparing for his photo shoot right now. In the meantime, why not come on down to Ashton Gate stadium tomorrow to see them for yourself!

Monster Mummy

I’ve had a productive old day today in my craft room preparing for the Little Monsters baby show in a couple of weeks time. Babygro monsters are largely completed, but I wanted to get together another of my mother and baby creations to promote on the day too. I worked with ‘cute’ as my buzzword and I reckon I pulled that off!

We’ve had Mr Monster’s photography kit out to do some shots to use on our wedding invitations, so cutesy and I had a little photo shoot of our own, what do you think?
